An exhibition mainly devoted to the Buddhas of Afghanistan

The Bamiyan cliffs in Afghanistan were among the most visited sites in the country, thanks to the two giant Buddhas, 37 and 56 metres tall, carved into the rock centuries ago. Sadly, the site was destroyed by the Taliban when they seized power in 2001.

The exhibition has been running since January to commemorate this event, presenting the archaeological works that could be recovered. Alongside these works, you can also admire the superb photographs by the renowned photographer and visual artist Pascal Convert.

Practical information

The exhibition is scheduled to end on 21 March 2022. It is open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, except Tuesdays, and admission is 12 euros. For more information, visit the museum’s website: www.guimet.fr. Live far from Paris? Stay at our hotel, just a few kilometres from the museum.
