A Traditional Restaurant in the Heart of Paris
Located just a minute’s walk from the Relais Saint-Honoré hotel and ranked among the top 300 Parisian restaurants, La Cordonnerie is the perfect place for those who love traditional food served in a family atmosphere. Strolling down the charming Rue Saint-Roch, you will notice the restaurant’s facade, which gives the impression of stepping back in time. The restaurant is integrated into the wall of the St. Roch church, reminiscent of a medieval shop.
A Family Tradition Since 1868
Since 1868, La Cordonnerie has been a family-run restaurant offering traditional French cuisine. Inside, an open kitchen overlooks a dining room with a few tables, where the chef works behind a medium-height glass screen. There are also four or five additional tables in another room. With exposed beams, antique furniture, and real tablecloths, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The restaurant has only 20 covers, so reservations are recommended.
Seasonal Cuisine and Fresh Ingredients
Chef Hugo Wolser, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, runs the restaurant and cooks in front of his guests. Nothing is prepared in advance; everything is cooked to order with fresh, seasonal produce sourced from the market each morning. Service may take some time as everything is made to order. The menu features a few classic French dishes, mainly meat-based. For starters, you might choose cucumbers in cream (€7), andouille de Guéméné sausage (€8), or duck terrine (€8). Main courses include an excellent grilled Aubrac entrecote steak (€25) and entrecote with shallots (€25). Portions are generous, and the presentation is simple. You will leave La Cordonnerie with the feeling of having had a pleasant meal in a cozy environment, enjoying traditional, expertly prepared food.
